Scottish Junior Windsurfing Championships on the 4th of Sept St Marys Loch in the Borders
Written by Morgan Macphail
Tuesday, 24 August 2010 17:35

SCOTLANDWINDSURF are hosting the Scottish Junior Windsurfing Championships on the 4th of September 2010 at St Marys Loch in the Borders.

The event gives competitors the chance to become crowned Scottish Junior Champion in each of the 3.5, 4.5, 5.8 and 6.8 classes.

Aimed at all Team15 sailors, the general feel of the event will be very similar to the Team15 events in Scotland with the courses to suit competitors of any ability.

The event runs alongside the Scottish Inland Championships, and sailors of a higher ability will be invited to race alongside the adults giving a gentle introduction to a higher standard of racing and bigger courses, whilst keeping it fun in a controlled environment with lots of people on hand for hints and tips.

Registration will be on the morning of the event, and a competitors and parents briefing will be held at around 10:30 to explain the course and ensure all sailors are comfortable with the fleet they are sailing in and know what to do. First possible start for the Juniors is 11:00. With last possible start at 16:30.

For those who would like to stay in the campsite on Saturday night and race with the adults on Sunday, camping and the sailing club facilities are free, and dinner (sat) and Lunch (sun) will be provided for the competitors (£5 charge for food if you are not racing, pay at registration).

Finally, St Marys is an incredible place to sail, and is one of the most welcoming sailing clubs in Scotland. It is well worth the trip, even if only for the scenery and the official “Best Meatballs in Scotland” provided by Chef Scott.

Just to let everyone know that orders for the club hoodies are being taken, I am hoping to place the final order early next week. So if you would like one email me on This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it with the size you would like.

They will be royal blue with an orange barracuda logo on the back, costs will be £20 for childrens sizes and £22 for adults. There is also the opportunity for an extra £3 to have a name/nickname printed down the sleeve so let me know in the email if you would like this or not.

Thanks
Emma
